Eric Bland and Protima Daryanani, SSB lawyers in New York will be joined by Sergio Karas, the
Visalaw International representative in Canada, for a
seminar on entertainment and sports immigration sponsored by the
American Bar Association and
Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal.
This program will present an overview of United States and Canadian immigration laws, regulations and issues as they pertain to the entertainment, sports and arts industries. The program will explore the principal non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories relevant to actors, musicians, artists, athletes and support personnel.
Moreover, the program will provide the entertainment, sports and arts lawyer with a checklist of watchdog issues and red flags to consider when negotiating deal memos, talent contracts and production itineraries. Critical immigration topics such as processing times, the impact of drug/criminal arrests and convictions and federal income tax consequences will also be discussed.
The ABA will apply for MCLE accreditation status from each state with mandatory CLE requirements. It is anticipated that 2.0 credit hours will be earned.
