Caddie of PGA Golfer Denied Entry
Sam Pinfold, the caddie of American golfer Brendan Steele was denied entry to attend this week's Humana Challenge and returned to his native New Zealand. From the Irish Times:
Brendan Steele will have home advantage at this week’s Humana Challenge, but will not have his regular caddie on the bag after he was “treated like a criminal” at US immigration.
Steele’s caddie Sam Pinfold ran into problems with his visa when he returned to the United States and was put straight back on a plane to his native New Zealand.
“He came back on Sunday night to LAX (Los Angeles International airport) and they wouldn’t let him through immigration,” Steele said.
“So they treated him kind of like a criminal and turned him around with two guards that made sure he got on to his plane straight back to New Zealand, and we have got to try to get him sorted out so he can get back here as soon as possible.
Pinfold's main problem is that his employer is American. Had the employer had another nationality, he might have been able to enter on a visa tied to the employer's work visa.
